Five Things you Must See in San Diego

San Diego is one of the top tourist destinations in California. With the sun, surf, and perfect weather it is easy to see why it is so popular. Despite being known for its miles of beautiful coastline, there are many things to see in San Diego and something for everyone to enjoy. The following are the top five things you must-see when you are visiting sunny San Diego.

The World Famous San Diego Zoo:

While many cities have a zoo, the San Diego Zoo has been voted as the number one zoo in the world by Trip Advisor. The zoo consists of over 4,000 animals spread out over 100 acres in beautiful Balboa Park. When you get tired of walking, the zoo offers a Skyfari aerial tram where you can soar above the park and view the animals.

Balboa Park:

Balboa Park is nestled on 1,200 acres just outside of downtown. Inside the park you will find museums, gardens, attractions, restaurants, dog parks, and play areas. In addition to all that, Balboa Park is also home to various performing arts such as a puppet theater, the youth ballet, Spreckels Organ Pavilion, and the Old Globe which is an esteemed regional theater.

Old Town:

Old Town is one of the most historic sites in San Diego. It is the site of the first Spanish settlement in the state of California. While visiting Old Town, you can see many of the same buildings and activities that took place there in the 1850’s. Today, Old Town offers a variety of Mexican food, shops, and historical buildings to explore. While in Old Town, stop into Casa de Reyes where you can enjoy authentic Mexican food and drinks while basking in the beautiful weather in their courtyard.

La Jolla Cove:

La Jolla is a town just a few miles north of San Diego but it is worth the short journey. The cove is known for its beautiful waters and breathtaking views, which make it one of the most photographed beaches in San Diego. The calm waters are ecologically protected and allow for scuba divers, snorkelers, and kayakers to get up close with the wildlife. The cove is also home to seals and sea lions that gather at the Children’s Pool near the cove.

The Gaslamp Quarter:

If you are looking for a night on the town, then the Gaslamp is where you will want to visit. In the 16 blocks that make up the quarter, you will find trendy restaurants, art galleries, nightclubs, bars, and plenty of shopping.
