Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Isaiah 58:7 (NIV)
Our Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Glorious Life’s Food Ministry mission is to offer assistance, encouragement and the Love of Jesus Christ as we serve those who are in need through the distribution of food.
Everyone is welcome! We do not ask questions, there are no applications to fill out or qualifications, we do not take income or the number of children in each household into consideration. Everyone can participate in the program and we do not require the participants to be or become members of our congregation.
Our food ministry provides one to two weeks worth of non-perishable food items to approximately 20 families each month and this number will increase as this ministry grows in the community. This ministry is crossing denominational barriers as we spread the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ through our actions, our love and the wonderful service we provide to those who need our help.
The Food Ministry at Glorious Life Church is supplying much more then just food to those who are in need, we are nourishing each person’s soul as well as their bodies and minds. As we supply the food, we are planting the seed of God’s love and salvation. And through His Love, His Grace and His Mercy, God will provide the comfort and peace that each person so desperately seeks and needs. Our Lord commands us to love everyone. "Love is defined as selfless giving, reaching beyond our friends and families and touching the lives of those who are in need. Love should be the unifying force and the identifying mark of a Christian." As we stand together in faith and place our trust in our Lord, we can be assured He is touching their lives in more ways then just the food we are providing, He is touching their souls and hearts with His heavenly manna.
Matthew 25:35-40 (NKJV) - 35 ...for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
When you donate food and money to this ministry, you may take comfort in knowing we are following the direction of God’s word as stated in Matthew 25:35:40, and Isaiah 58:7.
The above scripture describes acts of kindness we can perform on a daily basis. These acts are not dependent upon our credentials, qualifications, skills/talents, wealth or our intellect. These are simple acts freely given and freely received. As a Christian if we do not follow the word of God, and reach out to those who are in need, then our faith lacks sincerity. God wants us to move beyond our personal growth and move into acts of kindness, charity and generosity toward those who are in need of a helping hand.
Our goal is to make this the number one food ministry in the State of Kansas and I know we will succeed as long as we give freely and follow the Word of the Lord in Matthew and Isaiah. However to become the great success, I know we WILL be, it is crucial that we have the full support, and encouragement of all members of Glorious Life Church. It is imperative that you be committed to helping us put in the time and energy to keep this ministry going on a long-term basis.
We are currently researching the possibility of aligning ourselves with the Kansas Food Bank and Angel Food Ministries to aid us in our grocery relief program. Through these organizations we would be able to purchase more food for less money, which would allow us to provide perishable items (meat) as well as non-perishable items. We will update you on our progress as soon as we get the information we need. This process may be slow but will be an awesome tool once we get everything set in place.
The doors to this ministry were opened in September of 2007 and as of March 2008, you, the people of GLC, have fed approximately 180 families through your donations. We thank each of you for the love, compassion, kindness, generosity, support and dedication you have bestowed upon this ministry and your continued support is greatly needed and appreciated.
Please, continue to help us spread His Word and to shine His Light into the lives of those we are blessing through the Food Ministry of Glorious Life Church.
Blessings in Christ Jesus,
- The Strouds
